myPup

Ok, this is my first blog, and i was told to blog about what I'm passionate about. Well, that's my puggle, Colby. He's pretty much the cutest dog ever. I first fell in love with him when my mom and I started searching Petfinder.com for a new dog to adopt. We saw his picture on their website and called the shelter right away. I was in my sophmore year of college at the time, so I would say i was roughly 19. The shelter was located in Yukon, PA. It was probably only about 25 minutes from my house. I don't really know what I was expecting this shelter to look like but when we pulled up it was this beat up old house with tons of cages, in and out. Walking in the place smelled like straight up pee. It was disgusting. Now, i had seen Colby online, but it was a fuzzy picture, so when we actually got to see him in person i seriously fell in love. I went with my dad and we were under the impression that if you were adopting a dog, then you would be walking home with that dog that day. No. We found out that you had to "apply" for the dog and beat out like 20 other families. So, we filled out our application and went home. After 3 weeks we just figured that he went to some other family, but just to be safe my mom called them. I guess he was supposed to go to a family, but they backed out last minute, so they said that they were going to check our resources, like our old vet and some of our old neighbors, which is just ridiculous because we were adopting a dog not applying for a job or anything, but i suppose that's just how they do it. After we cleared all their requirements they said we could come down and pick up our new pup. Anyway, my dad and brother went to pick him up while i went to Petsmart to buy tons of stuff that he would never need. For the past year and a half Colby has been the coolest dog ever. He just lays around when he's inside, and when he's outside he goes crazy. He loves to play with the neighbor dogs and they act like they are little kids. Colby gets along with pretty much any dog he comes in contact with. Since both of my brothers are moved out of the house, it's pretty much just me and Colb. He sleeps with me, we go for walks (short walks because he's pretty lazy), and just lay around the house together. He's my bud.
